Prior to that, he held senior positions at GlaxoWellcome Germany, Bristol-Myers Squibb Germany and Convatec Germany, (a medical devices subsidiary of Bristol Myers Squibb). Dr Werner sits on the board of trustees of both the Paul Ehrlich Association and the Robert Koch Foundation.
As previously announced Dr Argeris (Jerry) Karabelas will stand down from the Board at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting taking place later May, 15 2009.
