Safeguard Medical has agreed to acquire PerSys Medical to expand its portfolio of medical equipment, technologies and services to first responders.
The acquisition of PerSys will allow Safeguard to expand its global distribution footprint to over 60 countries, as well as add a research and development centre in Israel.
PerSys offers a range of bandages and tourniquets for military, hospital, law enforcement, first response, and emergency medicine personnel.
The company’s products consist of Emergency Bandage for hemorrhage control. It was adopted by the US Army Rangers in 2001.
PerSys also offers WaisMed NIO, which is an automatic and intraosseous device that offers safe, quick and easy vascular access in emergency situations.
The firm’s Blizzard Trauma Blanket delivers thermal insulation and prevents heat loss in the patient in trauma cases.
Safeguard Medical CEO Adam Johnson said: “PerSys and Safeguard enjoy a complementary customer base and have long been unified in our mission, so this acquisition offers our customers the broadest possible options for lifesaving medical equipment and technologies, and serves as a natural extension to our product portfolio.
“This strategic acquisition will increase our flexibility as a mission-minded driver of training technologies and cutting-edge products for first responders around the world.”
Subject to administrative approvals, the deal is expected to be completed in the next 30 days.
Safeguard, which is a company of Water Street Healthcare Partners, offers emergency medical product technologies.
The acquisition of PerSys is expected to enable the company to offer a range of bandages and tourniquets for lifesaving critical care.
Safeguard was formed in 2020 through the merger of Combat Medical Systems, Prometheus Medical, Trauma FX, and Water-Jel Technologies.
