The new immobilization system has been designed to be used in conjunction with S-Type devices, helping the clinicians to quickly adjust shim height at independent points.

Based on the firm’s existing technologies, the new device integrates novel shimming feature that offers a 4mm range of height adjustment using discrete 0.5mm increments.

It also features an optional IntegraBite that adjusts to the teeth or maxilla, which allows to decrease head and neck rotation, flexion and extension.

Qfix CEO and chief technology officer Dan Coppens said: "This patent pending technology revolutionizes shimming techniques in radiotherapy.

"This allows clinicians to achieve higher quality immobilization while improving workflow efficiency."

The firm has also launched a new Portrait S-Frame mask for head and neck radiotherapy treatment, which features enhanced and ergonomic finger grips that help in the removal of the mask from the device.

It is developed for use with all standard S-Type devices and available in Aquaplast RT, Fibreplast, Variable Perf, and AssureOpen View configurations.

The company is exhibiting the new devices at the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) in San Antonio, US, which is being held from 18 to 21 October.
