The move follows the McGuinty government’s plan to improve the quality of life of cancer patients.
The diagnostic assay is intended to identify whether chemotherapy is the proper treatment approach for breast-cancer patients, or if an alternative therapy is needed.
Sudbury Regional Hospital Regional Cancer Program affiliate scientist Amadeo Parissenti, who developed the tool, said the test can help oncologists determine if chemotherapy that breast cancer patients are receiving is helping them.
