OSF HealthCare public relations executive director Karen Brodbeck said: "Our partnership with Medline is helping us pursue our affordability and sustainability goals yet allows us to remain cognizant of quality and safety initiatives."

As part of the five-year agreement, Medline will provide an extensive portfolio of essential medical supplies and solutions to the entities of OSF HealthCare.

OSF will monitor key metrics such as item utilization, contract compliance, price accuracy and spend by product categories through using Medline’s online reporting tool, Medline INSIGHT.

Medline corporate sales vice-president Adam Swearingin said: "Medline is committed to helping our customers achieve both clinical and financial success.

"Through this partnership, we are well-positioned to provide high quality products and decades of manufacturing experience to help OSF HealthCare improve productivity and enhance patient care."

In April 2014, Medline acquired anterior cervical fusion distraction pin business from Amendia, a provider of Class II and Class III medical devices used in spinal surgical procedures.

Medline provides around 350,000 medical devices and support services for customers across the continuum of care.
