Medical artificial intelligence (AI) solution company MEDICAL IP has connected its medical imaging AI analysis and digital twin implementation software MEDIP PRO to the NVIDIA Omniverse platform.
MEDIP PRO is said to be the first and only case among all existing software around the world to combine medical image-based medical software with the real-time 3D graphics collaboration platform created by NVIDIA.
The Omniverse development platform is streamlined to customise 3D pipelines and simulates virtual environments, including digital twins.
With Omniverse, interoperability is enabled between 3D applications by using Universal Scene Description (USD) to provide clients and partners access to new industrial metaverse applications, said MEDICAL IP.
The connection of MEDIP PRO to NVIDIA Omniverse also lets users segment, edit, and create AI-based 3D-model medical images in real-time in virtual spaces. This will allow the growth of internal human body knowledge into a metaverse without time or space restrictions, the South Korea-based MEDICAL IP said.
MEDICAL IP CEO Park Sang-Joon said: “Just as advances in medical imaging techniques and devices have enabled mankind to acquire information about the human body that cannot be seen with the naked eye, we will lead progress and innovation in various medical areas such as surgery and treatment optimised for individual patients, drug delivery simulation, and monitoring by implementing the information contained in medical images as a digital twin and expanding it into a virtual space.”
MEDIP PRO software is said to model medical images like computerised tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in 3D instantly.
It also divides organs and lesions using AI to generate digital twins of all types of anatomical structures related to the human body and expands them into virtual space.
When connected to NVIDIA Omniverse, MEDIP PRO offers features like real-time digital twin sharing, 3D visualisation, virtual surgery, and epidemiological and blood-flow simulation.
It also offers augmented reality (AR)/virtual Reality (VR) augmentation of medical images and engineering analysis, MEDICAL IP said.
According to the digital twin company, the software has received approval from the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and European CE.
Currently, the software is being supplied to university hospitals, medical equipment manufacturers, medical colleges, and others.
It is also being used by many general hospitals in the US and South Korea, including the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Mayo Clinic, Arizona State University, Seoul National University Hospital, and Samsung Medical Centre.
