US-based Masimo and Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System (FMOLHS), a 10-hospital system, have inked a multi-year agreement for the system-wide installation of the former’s patient monitoring technologies.
FMOLHS, which is based in Baton Rouge, serves communities across Louisiana and Mississippi.
Under the agreement, the hospital chain will implement Masimo SET pulse oximetry, including the Radius PPG tetherless pulse oximetry to enable uninterrupted continuous patient monitoring even during patient ambulation.
Additionally, FMOLHS is installing Masimo Patient SafetyNet to monitor 500 beds in their medical-surgical, orthopaedic, bariatric, and cardiovascular step-down units.
The system is said to offer supplemental remote monitoring and alarms at centralised view stations as well as two-way clinician notifications through Replica-equipped smartphones, Masimo said.
These monitoring technologies are intended to improve patient safety and care workflows. They deliver continuous, accurate bedside, and surveillance monitoring and automate the transfer of patient data across FMOLHS’s continuum of care.

FMOLHS said that Masimo SET and Patient SafetyNet offer definite advantages over their prior monitoring technology.
According to the American medical device company, Masimo SET has performed better than existing pulse oximetry technologies.
It reduced false alarms and measured more precisely and dependably during mobility and poor perfusion, meeting FMOLHS’s criteria of effective monitoring of paediatric and neonatal patients.
