InspireMD will distribute the MGuard stent through Kirloskar Technologies (KTPL), a supplier of high-tech medical equipment in India.
MGuard presents a combination of a coronary stent merged with an embolic protection specifically designed for Acute MI patients.
The embolic protection is comprised of an ultra-thin polymer mesh sleeve that wraps the stent.
The MGuard coronary stent provides permanent embolic protection, without affecting deliverability.
InspireMD president Asher Holzer said Indians have one of the highest mortality and morbidity rates from coronary artery disease (CAD) as compared to other ethnic groups and they are confident that the MGuard mesh-based coronary stent system will become a tool in the Indian cath labs, in which AMI patients are the vast majority.
