The Cell Saver Device collects patient’s blood, pumps it through a device which cleans and purifies the blood and pumps the blood back into the patient’s system almost simultaneously, reported AMEinfo.com.
German Orthopaedic Hospital founder Heinz Roettinger said patients don’t need to use donated blood, so the risks of receiving tainted blood and infections such as HIV or Hepatitis are eliminated.
"With minimal blood loss and the availability of fresh, vital, clean red blood cells without storage, the patient’s recovery process is also improved," Roettinger said.
