Caresyntax, an enterprise-scale surgical data and intelligence platform, has partnered with medical professional liability insurer ProAssurance to provide advanced surgical intelligence tools to ProAssurance’s insured surgeons.
ProAssurance insured surgeons can use the surgical intelligence platform to integrate video and other real-world evidence from surgeries, and the data sets are used to provide insights.
Caresyntax will offer its InfluenceOR solution to help to ProAssurance-covered surgeons in select surgical specialties from Q3 2023, with a wider rollout expected later this year.
InfluenceOR allows the surgeons to share the data and surgical content with patients, referring physicians, hospitals, and insurers through digital channels.
Caresyntax founder and CEO Dennis Kogan said: “We have developed a practice building toolkit for surgeons to grow their practice, by getting recognition and support from insurers due to more efficient, higher quality surgeries.
“We are promoting awareness and differentiation for surgeons who consistently drive excellent patient outcomes and also help enable the capture of economic value added when insurers see reduction in total cost of surgical care.”
Caresyntax said that the unique collaboration model, involving insurers, providers, and a tech-enabled surgical intelligence platform, builds on a similar partnership in Europe.
The company has deployed the collaboration model at scale, in partnership with European mutual insurer and risk manager Relyens.
It has scaled the model across multiple European countries, using Relyens’ unique Risk Management Software as a Service (RMSaaS) offering.
The RMSaaS solution combined Relyens’ insurance and risk management services with Caresyntax’ technology and data-driven surgical pathways.
The current collaboration between Caresyntax and ProAssurance is expected to improve patient outcomes and surgeon experience.
ProAssurance healthcare professional liability insurance president Rob Francis said: “ProAssurance is excited to offer our insureds access to innovative technology from Caresyntax to empower data-driven surgeons.
“More and more surgeons today are seeking to use data sets to visualize, supplement, and continuously improve technical proficiency and surgical outcomes.
“This helps them become more efficient in the operating room and grow their practice, and enables them to share best practices with the broader healthcare community.”
