The hospital’s Epic EHR and varying brands as well as types of patient care devices such as physiologic monitors, ventilators, incubators, CRRT systems, and perfusion equipment are now integrated using Bernoulli One.
The deployment covers several units such as anesthesia procedure areas, pre- and post-operative beds, gastrointestinal, intensive care units including ICU, NICU, and cardiac ICU, stepdown, emergency department, cath lab, and interventional radiology.
Bernoulli One, which detects deteriorating patient conditions and helps to reduce the risk of life-threatening events, also allowed automating the process of printing and scanning waveform strips.
Using Bernoulli, scheduled and on-demand patient ECG waveform reports can be integrated with clinical annotation directly into electronic health record (EHR) record of the patient.
Virginia Health Center chief information officer Mike Mistretta said: “This is a huge time saver for nurses and physicians.
“The workflow enhancement will speed data entry, waveform reviews by physicians, and will positively impact cost savings while supporting quality of care.”
Bernoulli One supports integration with a range of of medical devices and clinical systems from every major manufacturer using standards-based data protocols and the current network infrastructure.
Bernoulli pairs historical data from the EHR with real-time streaming data to find early indications of patient deterioration.
The solution has secured FDA Class II clearance for use in active patient monitoring as well as secondary alarm notification.
Bernoulli Health CEO Janet Dillione said the company’s team was able to fulfill Virginia Hospital Center’s request to automate the waveform report to EHR process.
“We believe many hospitals can take advantage of this functionality to help reduce the burden of documentation and enhance caregiver satisfaction. We are pleased to provide these capabilities to VHC and all of our hospital and health system clients,” Dillione said.
In May this year, Main Line Health, a not-for-profit health system near Philadelphia, integrated Bernoulli One into its EHR system.
