Switzerland-based drug delivery solutions provider SHL Medical has acquired Superior Tooling, a US-based manufacturer of plastic injection moulds through quality tooling.
Established in 1985, Superior Tooling specialises in manufacturing plastic injection moulds and die-cast moulds for demanding applications requiring high volume, accuracy, and consistency.
SHL is currently building two new manufacturing sites, one in North Charleston, South Carolina, US, and the other in Zug, Switzerland, which complement its existing facilities in Taiwan.
The Swiss company said that its acquisition of Superior Tooling will support its strategic manufacturing operations worldwide.
The deal will also strengthen its vertical capabilities for the new site in North Charleston, while boosting its local presence.
SHL Medical chairman and CEO Ulrich Faessler said: “The demand for our autoinjectors, including treatment areas such as diabetes and weight management, is growing rapidly.
“Through continuous advancements and dedication, we deliver on our strategic vision to uphold our position as market leaders.
“This acquisition marks a significant milestone in our journey towards globalizing our operations to better serve our customer base. We are happy to welcome Superior Tooling into the SHL family.”
SHL said that the acquisition of Superior Tooling not only supports the tooling needs of its in-house manufacturing but also its strategy to deliver the highest quality tools to customers.
The US-based injection moulds manufacturer will work closely with SHL’s existing tooling departments to develop new solutions for its global customer base.
Superior Tooling president Robbie Earnhardt said: “This marks a significant step forward for our potential and growth trajectory. We take great pride in having our capabilities recognized by a global player and eagerly look forward to maximising them as integral members of SHL Medical.
“I am confident that the synergies between our capabilities and SHL’s established tooling expertise will prove highly advantageous for both our existing and new customers.”
