Health technology firm Royal Philips has partnered with professional services company Cognizant to develop digital health solutions for providers, researchers and patients.
The companies will work together for the development of end-to-end digital health solutions to help healthcare organisations and life sciences companies enhance patient care and boost clinical trials.
By combining Philips HealthSuite cloud-based platform with Cognizant’s digital engineering expertise, the partnership will provide and maintain digital health solutions at scale, offer advanced connectivity and use big data to create actionable insights.
Royal Philips chief innovation and strategy officer Shez Partovi said: “Partnering with Cognizant’s experienced digital engineering teams will accelerate the adoption of solutions built on Philips HealthSuite, delivering digital solutions across the healthcare continuum in a secure and compliant manner, and ultimately helping guide better health decisions for patients.”
Built on Amazon Web Services, the Philips HealthSuite is an integrated and modular set of standards-based capabilities that facilitate the development of digital health propositions.
The platform allows to securely store critical healthcare data, as well as offer both advanced data analytics and AI capabilities. It also helps to offer interoperability, connectivity and regulatory compliance.
According to Philips, HealthSuite has seen the integration of over 100 types of medical devices into it to date, with more than 145 billion clinical images archived on the cloud platform.
As part of the deal, Cognizant will develop, deploy, implement, and operate client-specific applications on Philips HealthSuite.
Integrating advanced data analytics, the customisable and scalable solutions are said to offer relevant data to the appropriate point-of-care, thereby enabling to enhance both the patient and clinician experience.
Philips HealthSuite’s compliant and secure medical device connectivity, data integration and analysis will also allow life science companies to benefit from remote patient monitoring and decentralised clinical trials.
Cognizant global growth markets president Ursula Morgenstern said: “This new collaboration will provide critical solutions that help manage the growing amount of health data available, keep patients and providers better connected, and help accelerate life-saving therapies to market, Virtual and digital health solutions are fundamental to improving health awareness and engagement.”
