The Lung Optimized Treatment provides the accuracy and steep dose fall required to safely treat lung tumours, even those which are close to critical anatomical structures.
The component offers simulation and comparison workflows, along with tracking modes, which enable the clinician to select an optimal non-invasive treatment option from multiple, non-invasive options.
Accuray chief operating officer Chris Raanes said Lung Optimized Treatment is a new tool which can meet the clinical demand for more flexibility in treating lung cancer patients with radiosurgery and the desire to move away from reliance on fiducial markers.
"This new technology enables treatments throughout the lung without a single incision, all while safeguarding healthy tissue and structures around the tumour," Raanes said.
