LifeScan stated that its OneTouch Reveal mobile app can help people with diabetes in keeping track of their blood sugar from their wireless device and easily share the results with their healthcare team, family and friends.
The mobile app can sync with the OneTouch Verio Flex blood glucose monitoring (BGM) system with built-in Bluetooth Smart Technology. Together, these tools can help patients to understand their blood glucose numbers and take action to get back in range.
The company has added a key feature, which is drawing a timeline for important blood sugar events and activities organized in a color-coded digital logbook.
The newly released version of the OneTouch Reveal mobile app can identify recurring highs or lows and can notify users via opt-in alerts on their smartphone so they can take action to avoid them in the future.
The app allows users to set and track personalized goals for blood glucose tests, carbohydrates logging and the number of steps taken per day.
LifeScan claims that more than 1.3 million downloads of the app have taken place and 107 million plus blood glucose results have been logged.
The app is available for free to download for Apple devices on the App Store and Android devices on Google Play in 24 countries globally, including Argentina, Algeria, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Czech Republic, Chile, Croatia, France, Germany, India, Italy, Ireland, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Slovenia, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, the UK, and the US.
LifeScan has recently secured CE Mark for another product, the OneTouch Verio Reflect system with Blood Sugar Mentor. Commercial launch of the product is expected to take place in France early next month and across other EMEA markets next year.
In addition, the OneTouch Ultra Plus Reflect meter, a blood glucose meter with the same features as the OneTouch Verio Reflect meter that uses OneTouch Ultra Plus test strips in place of the OneTouch Verio test strips, is awaiting CE marking. Its launch is expected in Germany, Belgium and other EMEA markets next year.
The OneTouch Verio Reflect system has also been submitted to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for 510(k) clearance, and to Health Canada for a Medical Device Licence.
These systems can sync with the OneTouch Reveal mobile app and will unlock additional features in the OneTouch Reveal mobile app including Blood Sugar Mentor messages, customization of device settings from the app and synchronization of tagging.
