With the help of 3D imaging, the Philips TAVI application provides pre-procedural and high-precision positioning for interventionalists to treat aortic stenosis ailments.
The TAVI planning application, through advanced computed tomography imaging, offers planes and panel measurements for precisely placing TAVI devices to manage the risk of under or oversizing of a TAVI device.
The application delivers images into a 3D heart model, which will allow interventionalists to orient the device and address less-than-optimal patient cases.
Philips Healthcare Imaging Systems CEO Gene Saragnese said the TAVI planning application offers solution for aortic device placement to help improve patient care.
"As our population ages, minimally invasive TAVI procedures are becoming increasingly popular in the United States, since they provide a non-surgical option for those patients who might have once been considered too high-risk for heart surgery," Saragnese added.
The company is providing TAVI planning application, as part of its IntelliSpace Portal 6, the advanced visualization and analysis solution that helps clinicians to access and analyze patient imaging and data virtually anywhere and at any time.
The application includes comprehensive measurement package to accommodate virtually all types of TAVI devices, according to the company.
The FDA had granted approval for TAVI technology in 2011.
