The alliance will see the addition of a Suss MicroTec Mask Aligner to a cluster of Suss MicroTec equipment in the cleanrooms of Institute for Electronics and Nanotechnology (IEN) at Georgia Tech.

Bio-medical device research and fabrication and fabrication is being carried out at the cleanrooms.

Earlier this year, Suss MicroTec collaborated with Packaging Research Center (PRC) of Georgia Tech to work on advanced exposure tools, including excimer laser ablation systems for drilling on non-photosensitive materials.

IEN executive director Oliver Brand said: "The addition of this new technology will provide needed functionality for our bio-medical and micro-fluidic research by enhancing our soft lithography capabilities with a wide number of related nanotechnology applications."

SUSS MicroTec general manager of exposure and laser processing Ralph Zoberbier said: "The close cooperation with universities and research institutions is of great importance for SUSS MicroTec.

"We benefit from their fundamental knowledge and expertise and gain significant insights that are vital for our future development work."
