Cardiac Solutions will provide HeartSine samaritan® PAD 350P AEDs to EBSCO’s corporate headquarters and its upscale communities of ALYS Beach in the Panama City, Florida, area and Mt Laurel in Birmingham, Alabama.
The AEDs will be placed throughout the communities, protecting thousands of citizens in the event of Sudden Cardiac Arrest, a condition in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating.
"We’ve had a well-coordinated AED program for some time, but we were interested in newer, more sophisticated AED units," said EBSCO Benefits Coordinator Mark Midyette.
"We found that and then some through Cardiac Solutions in their ‘turn-key’ approach to installing, training and managing the newest AED technology on the market today. We are excited about and have been extremely pleased with our new partnership with Cardiac Solutions."
"We are delighted that EBSCO is demonstrating their commitment to the safety and well-being of their communities by taking this next step of placing HeartSine AEDs throughout their locations," says Jon M. Seale, Chief Executive Officer of Cardiac Solutions.
The HeartSine samaritan PAD analyzes the heart rhythm and delivers an electrical shock to victims of Sudden Cardiac Arrest in order to restore the heart to normal rhythm. The user-friendly AED provides easy to follow visual and audio prompts to guide the rescuer from pad application to shock delivery, if required.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest is a condition in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating, causing blood to stop flowing to the brain and other vital organs. SCA happens to people of all ages, including children, and is often fatal if not treated within minutes. CPR alone will not restart the heart, so the American Heart Association and ERC recommend CPR combined with early defibrillation (within three to five minutes) for the best outcome.
