Developed and manufactured by VTI, the lumbar interbody fusion system is based on proprietary modular technology.

The modular spinal implants will allow spine surgeons to achieve the predictable efficacy through utilizing less invasive approaches.

VTI CEO Matt Kyle said: "While our products have approval in 38 markets worldwide, China is a key market."

Through using the firm’s intra-operative assembly technology, the surgeons can optimize conditions for successful lumbar fusion. It will help to create an ALIF-sized footprint, which will be delivered through a smaller access channel than with currently available fusion products.

The company plans to initially launch the system in Hong Kong and Macau of Greater China in the fourth quarter of this year, while in mainland China after regulatory approvals.

ECM Medical US vice-president Brian Hakim said: "Orthopedic implants are a key area in our product portfolio and the Interfuse™ System offers unique benefits over other fusion products."
