Based in Dublin of California, ON Light Sciences is engaged in the development of novel technologies to enhance laser-based dermatologic procedures.

The company produces FDA 510(k) cleared and CE marked DeScribe Transparent (perfluorodecalin) patch used in laser tattoo removal.

DeScribe Transparent PFD patch will be placed over tattoos prior to irradiation, helping physicians to treat tattoos effectively by enabling rapid multiple laser passes in a single treatment session.

It also helps in optical clearing of tissue, as well as protects the epidermis and inhibits potentially infectious back-splatter and fumes.

As per the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), the tattoo removal is one of the fastest-growing laser procedures with 109,641 performed in 2014.

Merz Pharma Group CEO Philip Burchard said: “The addition of ON Light Sciences’ innovative technology allows us to better meet the needs of aesthetic practices that focus on energy-based devices.

“We have a vision to be the most innovative company in aesthetics, and this acquisition clearly complements our growing and diversified global portfolio, which includes the Ultherapy and Cellfina devices.”

ON Light Sciences president and CEO David Sell said: “We look forward to joining Merz and expanding awareness and use of the DeScribe Transparent PFD Patch.”
