The system, which provides enhanced closed incision negative pressure therapy (ciNPT), has been developed to manage surgical incisions that continue to drain following sutured or stapled closure.

Designed for a range of complex procedures, the Prevena Plus includes a customizable dressing that can be used for linear, non-linear, and intersecting incisions up to 90cm in length.

The surgeons can use the Prevena Plus system in various procedures, including laparotomy, panniculectomy, spinal fusion, revision hip and knee arthroplasty and lower extremity trauma fracture.

Prevena Plus uses a foam bolster to offer negative pressure at -125mmHg for up to seven days and patented SENSAT.R.A.C technology to monitor and maintain pressure at the incision site.

The system includes a replaceable 150ml canister to prevent exudates from the incision site.

The company is currently marketing the new product in the US and several other global markets.

Acelity president and CEO Joe Woody said: “At Acelity, our focus is always on improving patients’ lives and creating economic value by addressing post-operative complications that can affect recovery and create enormous cost burdens to the overall healthcare system.

“The addition of the Prevena Plus incision management system provides clinicians with new options for surgical patients backed by the Acelity technology and service they have come to trust.”

Based in San Antonio of Texas, Acelity markets its products in around 80 countries across the globe.
