The Discovery 5-Plex procedure allows researchers to investigate up to five biomarkers on one tissue slide.

It is the pre-optimized and fully automated multiplex procedure on the Ventana Discovery Ultra instrument.

The pre-optimized workflow of the procedure enables researchers to simplify the staining process.

Roche’s ready-to-use detection reagents offer crisp, specific signals and distinct information about protein co-expression patterns.

The company is offering four new fluorescent kits, which can used in the Discovery 5 procedure. The kits comprised of Discovery Famkit, Discovery Rhodamine 6G kit, Discovery Red 610 kit and Discovery DCC kit.

According to the company, the Discovery product line was developed for research use only. The line includes instruments and reagents for research in IHC and in situ hybridization (ISH).

Discovery Ultra research instrument has been developed to fully automate single or multiplex IHC and ISH applications.

Roche Tissue Diagnostics head Ann Costello said: "To better investigate the complexities of cancer biology and possible treatment strategies, it is increasingly important to detect multiple biomarkers on a single slide.

"The launch of the innovative Discovery 5-Plex procedure advances automation in multiplexing technology, which is expected to play a critical role in cancer research in the future."
