With advanced vacuum and leak management, the PICO 7 has been designed to support improved application on anatomically challenging areas where it is difficult to achieve and maintain a seal.

The system also said to include an industry-first dressing-full indicator for sNPWT devices, which allows to eliminate unnecessary dressing changes and wastage.

Designed for patients at risk of poor healing, the PICO 7 can be used in hospital and community setting.

The system, which enables to minimize the failures leading to infection and dehiscence, is approved for multiple applications including surgically closed incision sites.

In addition, the system features new user interface to simplify patient operation and belt clip to improve portability.

Smith & Nephew advanced wound management SVP Paolo Di Vincenzo said: “With PICO we revolutionised the use of negative pressure wound therapy, making a treatment previously only available in a hospital inpatient setting available to outpatients in a clinical and cost effective portable solution.

“With PICO 7 we have delivered significant design improvements that contribute to improved patient outcomes, patient management and HCP efficiency, keeping Smith & Nephew at the forefront of delivering pioneering portable negative pressure solutions.”
