The system combines either V.A.C. therapy or V.A.C. VeraFlo therapy, which is the combination of V.A.C. Therapy and instillation.
The V.A.C. VeraFlo therapy provides instillation of topical wound cleansers and appropriate topical antimicrobial and antiseptic solutions.
In addition, VeraFlo therapy removes infectious material, heals the wound and prepares for primary or secondary closure.
The VeraFlo therapy is also optimized by two new disposable dressings including V.A.C. VeraFlo Dressing to promote granulation and V.A.C. VeraFlo Cleanse Dressing which is effective in wound hydration, washing and flushing.
Kinetic Concepts business unit director John Andonoff said, "The V.A.C.Ulta System with V.A.C. VeraFlo Therapy will give clinicians in Canada an opportunity to treat wounds that would benefit from the instillation of topical solutions: such as chronic and traumatic, contaminated or infected wounds."
Central Newfoundland Regional Health Care Centre general surgeon Mark O’Driscoll said the launch of the V.A.C.Ulta Therapy to the armamentarium of wound care personnel has vastly increased the number of patients who can benefit from this therapy.
"The ability to apply the gold standard NPWT, while simultaneously delivering various wound care solutions, has quickened and improved outcomes of some very difficult to manage wounds," O’Driscoll added.
