The UKR procedures, performed at the US-based Community Regional Medical Center, includes two left-medial and one right-medial partial knee replacement surgeries.

Featuring a patented technology, the FDA-cleared NavioPFS orthopedic surgical system provides precise robotic control to surgeons via an intelligent, handheld computer-assisted bone-cutting tool.

The system, which integrates CT-free navigation with intraoperative registration and planning, uses robotic handpiece to make less-invasive incisions and allows for precise and repeatable bone preparation while treating patients with medial osteoarthritis.

In addition, the system maintains integrity and balance of the soft-tissue envelope, which is a difficult variable to properly control when using manual instrumentation, claims the company.

Blue Belt Technologies president and CEO Eric Timko said, "We are all very pleased with the initial results and look forward to continued success as we begin our commercialization, both in the U.S. and European markets."

The company said the NavioPFS system’s wide array of future applications are in development.
