US-based medical technology company GE HealthCare has secured the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) approval for its Portrait vital signs monitor (VSM).
Portrait VSM, the next evolution of the legacy DINAMAP vital signs monitor, provides clinicians with an accurate view of patient vital signs to support timely clinical decisions.
The device leverages the SuperSTAT non-invasive blood pressure algorithm for more accurate measurements and offers customised Early Warning Scores (EWS).
Building on its wireless connectivity and easy EMR integration, the portable vital signs monitor was designed considering user workflows, enabling care teams to focus on their patients.

According to the company, patients’ vital signs are measured using traditional spot-check methods every four to six hours, which may miss early signs of patient deterioration.
Portrait VSM will optimise patient care by bringing together standard spot-check capability with continuous patient monitoring through its connectivity to Portrait Mobile.
The device can connect with the latest version of GE HealthCare’s Portrait Mobile wireless and wearable continuous monitoring solution to integrate patient data in a unified workflow.
It can automatically import patient data and patient’s continuously monitored data, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation and pulse rate, using a single click of the barcode scanner.
The Portrait VSM workflow streamlines the process of clinical rounding and reduces the steps required to capture and chart a complete set of vital sign measurements.
Its connected workflow and EMR integration enable accurate vital sign charting and eliminate the delay from manual data entry to help clinicians, said the medical device maker.
