US-based non-invasive monitoring technologies provider Masimo has announced the full commercial release of its Stork smart home baby monitoring system in the US.
The Stork system leverages Masimo’s advanced non-invasive hospital neonate monitoring technologies and provides a continuous and accurate view of the baby’s health data.
It comes with several components and is offered in multiple configurations.
Stork Vitals+, the lead product of the Stork family, contains a boot made from an ultra-soft, comfortable medical-grade silicone that conforms gently to the baby’s foot.
The boot, which comes in three sizes to ensure a good fit for babies up to 18 months, is equipped with a sensor, video camera, and mobile app support.
The embedded sensors build on Masimo’s decades of expertise in newborn monitoring to accurately detect pulse rate, SpO2, and temperature in babies.
Its high-resolution camera provides night vision and offers high-quality two-way audio through the camera, allowing parents to hear and talk to their babies.
The camera is also equipped with room condition monitoring to accurately report room temperature and humidity.
Furthermore, the Masimo Stork app allows parents to view their baby’s monitoring data, summaries of averages and trends, and share photos with others.
Masimo founder and CEO Joe Kiani said: “We are delighted to bring Masimo Stork to parents and caregivers in the United States.
“With the launch of Stork, parents for the first time can have access to a technology originally developed for the most challenging patients in hospitals, with a user interface that is a simple and easy-to-use app on a phone.”
Masimo said that the Stork platform offers advanced features, such as continuous tracking of health data, 2K quad high-definition (QHD) capable video, and parent tested mobile app.
It provides crystal-clear video and audio streaming, which allows parents to keep a close eye on their baby from anywhere, at any time, through the associated smartphone app.
The Stork app comes with a user-friendly interface that enables parents to customise room condition alerts, view historical data, and receive notifications about the sensor’s status.
Masimo said that the Stork baby monitor features AES-256-bit encryption to safeguard sensitive data and prioritise the security and privacy of its users.
